Are you feeling defeated?
Do not despair. There is hope. Lately I have been feeling the pressure. Business has been slow and times have been tough. I have been thinking all those scary thoughts:
- Was this a mistake?
- Should I give up?
- Can I even hear from God?
- God, are you even there?
So I have been crying out to God, "If this business is not what you want for me, what do you want me to be doing? I am willing and able, tell me, please". Today I got an answer in two ways. God led me to a scripture and a song. First the scripture:
Ephesians 6:10-17 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
I have been working very hard and spent long hours fighting in the physical. Now I need to start fighting the spiritual battle. I am going to meditate on this scripture some more (it has always been one of my favorites).
God has also given me a song. Matthew West's "Hello my name is" is my new spiritual fight song. Before long I will have it memorized and be singing my self to sleep with this song. I hope you enjoy it, too! Pick up your dusty sword, keep fighting the good fight and don't give up. God has got our back and He has given us his Word to fight the battles.
