Community ~ Geting Involved

Sparkleez Crystals recently hosted a Community Fund Raiser.  We had a weekend marathon of knitting and crocheting hats for cancer patients.  It was the first community event Sparkleez Crystals has ever hosted.  It was a huge success for a first time event.   We made hats to sell and for cancer patients to use.  We raised money by selling baked goods and hats and also took sponsors.   The "Hats for Cancer" event donated $647 and 55 hats to the Ashland County Cancer Association.  We donated the left-over baked goods to Kingston of Ashland and the left-over donated yarn to the Ashland Senior Citizen Center.  Both organizations were happy to receive the donations.

The question most people asked was..."How did you get this idea?"  Both the knit club and crochet club discussed the idea and we went from there.  We decided to keep it local by donating to a local organization.  We plan to do more fund raisers for other organizations in the future.

At Sparkleez Crystals we currently host a monthly bead club, a monthly crochet club and a monthly knit club.  Our crochet teacher, Deb Boyer spent many hours at the event and made several custom hats for friends who donated to the cause.  Our knit teacher, Roberta Heeren, also spent many hours knitting at our event.  We have several people who teach beading classes, myself included.  You can check our events calendar for meeting information and scheduled classes.  We also post events on our Facebook page.  Link to us on Facebook.

Thank you to everyone who donated and/or came and supported our event. Remember to keep it local and Shop local for the holidays this year!
